Second attempt to download the GPS collar data

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

After some phone calls with the manufacturer “Followit” in Sweden, they advised us to separate the collar from the battery, and leave both components on a warm spot to dry. Since the display notification was still on, it was likely that the data was in the collar was safe… But it would be to time consuming to send the collar to Sweden, and have it downloaded in the factory. So we had to try to get it out here. After using some force, we managed to separate the two and leave them to dry.

091125idiris-sauruAs a present, we did bring a real Dutch herding stick that Ivar made as a present for mr Idiris.

It is to be expected that mr. Idiris will always use it head down, as that is the best way to have the stick ready for killing snakes and the like. But for us he poses with the wood sculpture as it was designed.

091125video-kijken

After returning to the homestead, we showed mr. Idiris and other members of the community the materials of last year on my computer. I was very happy to find out that they all liked the material a lot. Mr Idiris and the other community members expressed that they found their “way of living” represented in a honest and true manner. I felt kind of proud.
