We visited more herders today, to find out about their mobility patterns and willingness to work with us.

It is always good to explain how in The Netherlands cows are kept in barns, and the farmer needs to bring the food to the cows, instead of their way, making the cows go after their food themselves.

Some more pictures from the field:

First, we have Esther and Saleh on our first working day. They are looking at the map of the region around Abuja, where Saleh is pointing out the Fulani families’ current settlements.

This picture was taken when we were inside the hut of the first family we met, that very same day. In the earlier picture of us walking we were on our way to this settlement. Esther and I had our first “nonno” of the trip (the bowl with the orange spoon in the foreground of the picture), milk from Fulani cows. It tastes surprisingly spicy (and delicious).

On our fist day we visited two possible families with whom we might collaborate. Esther, first in the line, Saleh, second, followed by Ali the interpreter.

We’re getting close to departure! Less than 16 hours to go!
